Mending

No more carrying this weight inside

Lugging it around, trying to hide

This pain so deep, this wounded pride

Bringing me down, an endless slide

Raw, exposed, ready to cry

Touch me softly, please try

Vulnerable, open, in and outside

Takes little right now to fill my eyes

This will pass, if I take this ride

Give myself time, focus my mind

Allow these emotions without divide

Receive what once I could not find

Healing the past, while living the now

An art in progress, learning how

Acceptance of self, a place to start

Mending the hurts, that long pulled at my heart.

[inspired by a brave woman and a cat named Tommy]
